Wolfgang’s work is dedicated to urban mobility and innovation. His research focusses on mobility systems that make use of new technologies like intermodal trip planners or self-driving cars. Wolfgang has been creating mobility solutions for Daimler that received a lot of attention and significantly changed the mobility behavior of city dwellers. He helped to build up car2go, car2gether and the mobility platform moovel.

Before joining Daimler Mobility Services, Wolfgang was part of Daimler’s Business Innovation Department – a team designated to the goal of fostering entrepreneurship within the company and evolving innovative ideas to emerging businesses. Wolfgang worked as an IT-professional and consultant for companies like Canon, Kodak, Philips or Siemens. As an entrepreneur he founded several companies in the areas of e-commerce and communications.

Wolfgang holds a Ph.D. in Innovation Management from the RWTH Aachen University, a Master’s Degree in Information Systems and graduated in Business Administration. For his Ph.D. dissertation on Open Innovation and individual Absorptive Capacity, he received the ISPIM Dissertation Award.
